US watchdog proposes limits on 'data brokers' sale of personal info

The U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is proposing new regulations to oversee and regulate data brokers who sell Americans' private information. This move aims to address threats to national security and public safety by requiring compliance with credit reporting laws. The proposal is open for public comment until March 2025.
