Smithfield Foods reduces hog footprint in deal with Murphy Family Ventures

Smithfield Foods is selling 150,000 female pigs to Murphy Family Ventures to decrease hog ownership. The deal will make Murphy a major pork producer in the U.S., supporting Smithfield's fresh pork operation. Smithfield is transitioning to a more streamlined company ahead of a U.S. listing.
