PPG to lay off 1,800 employees in U.S., Europe in cost-cut push

PPG Industries Inc. plans to cut 1,800 jobs in the U.S. and Europe and close facilities to reduce costs. The company will sell its architectural coatings business in the U.S. and Canada for $550 million.
