IAEA team samples seawater near Fukushima plant to ensure safe release of wastewater

A team of IAEA scientists is in Fukushima to monitor and sample treated radioactive wastewater discharge. Japan started releasing water from the damaged Fukushima Daiichi plant in 2023, leading to China's seafood import ban. Japan and China have agreed to involve the IAEA in monitoring the discharges.
