The Van Cortlandt family's 17th-century estate now hosts a pumpkin festival with intricate sculptures like a Kraken and Statue of Liberty. Dutch trader Stephanus Van Cortlandt established the estate, expanded by his grandson Pierre, New York's first Lieutenant Governor.
