China's GEM and Vale Plan $1.42 Billion Indonesian Nickel Plant

Chinese battery-metal producer GEM Co. and Vale SA's Indonesian unit plan to construct a $1.42 billion nickel plant in Indonesia to process nickel laterite ore into a form suitable for electric-vehicle batteries. This agreement reflects Indonesia's push to enhance its processing industry and attract foreign investment.
