Allegheny County Sheriff's Office warning public of "self remand bond" scam calls and texts

The Allegheny County Sheriff's Office cautions about a scam targeting criminal defendants in Pittsburgh. A man was tricked by a scammer posing as a deputy to deposit $1,100 into a Bitcoin kiosk. The office warns against sending money or personal information in such situations.
