"Giddy Up!" Zuckerberg's Newest Invention Shocks Early Testers...

It's Sunday…

And apparently Mark Zuckerberg is the only billionaire CEO that’s actually set to have a Sunday Funday. Big Zuck, the mastermind who turned Facebook into the planet's largest battleground for heated debates that solve absolutely nothing, is now rolling out his latest brainchild: holographic glasses.

And guess what? According to Zuck in a recent interviewer, early testers are feeling "giddy". (Yes, he actually used that word).

You see, while the term “holographic glasses” may sound like an empty bag of tech promises - (Think: What our great-grandparents thought the world would be like in the year 2000 only to wind up finding people obsessing over the term: “Hawk Tuah” in 2024)...

These glasses aren’t just for correcting your vision or making you look trendy. They pack cameras, microphones, speakers, and a full field-of-view (FOV) holographic display. It’s like having all the info you need right in front of your eyes 24/7.

But Zuckerberg does make it clear: these are “unmistakably glasses, not a headset,” throwing some shade at those bulky VR headsets that make you look like you’re gearing up for a space mission.

Now of course, this comes after the Ray-Ban smart glasses that Zuck tried making popular.  Remember them? Sure they are cool, but along with mistrust over Facebook's privacy controls, they’re just the appetizer.

And Zuckerberg is betting big that these holographic glasses will be the main course. According to him, you’ll forget your smartphone even exists. "You won’t need to keep checking your phone every five minutes," he says, once again acknowledging our collective screen addiction.

But it gets even better when it comes to addons…

As if the privacy controls of Facebook's products aren’t invasive enough, Meta is apparently working on a neural wristband to go with the holographic glasses. Basically allowing the wristband to read nerve signals from your hand, letting you control your holographic glasses with simple finger movements.

And while Zuckerberg is right on point when he says, “Most people are not going to want something wired into their brain,” I can assure you that most people aren’t going to want their actual thoughts and nerve ending patterns on the Metadata buffet table either. I mean, most Americans already think their phones listen to them after seeing an ad for a product they were literally just talking about.

So even though the new “giddy” prototype sounds like it’s going to be a smashing hit… I’m not holding my breath. Sure according to Zuck: "Every person I’ve shown it to so far … their reaction is … giddy,"

But one thing is clear, these glasses won’t immediately replace our smartphones. It’s a cool tech that will definitely have it’s benefits for professionals and other niched uses, but it’s hard to imagine something tapped to our neural networks gaining much steam in this day in age. (Yeah I’m talking to you too Elon).

Yet, when it comes to Meta’s stock, this is where the recent news really matters. We all know that catalysts can have major impacts on stock prices… and sometimes it’s the smallest catalyst that can lead to an explosion in price action.

As of right now, Meta’s losses on Friday wiped out both Thursday, and Wednesday’s gains after a strong start to the week, so the timing of Zuckerberg's “prototype” tease is definitely interesting. If analysts and product experts truly predict that these glasses can gain wide stream attention (and actual usage), we could end up seeing Meta stock come out of the gates strong during market open tomorrow.

In conclusion, the future no doubt looks bright - a bit holographic… but bright. Each year the way we interact with technology continues to evolve in ways we never thought imaginable, so it will be interesting to see how investors react to the news once trading ramps up again in the morning.

Will the optimism come out guns a blazin? Or will they give two sh*ts about some so-called holographic technology?

Only time will tell, but in the meantime, enjoy your Sunday, relax, and get ready to get your “giddy up” on come this time tomorra!
