If you’re looking for massive growth, innovation stocks can be an excellent choice. By disrupting the marketplace or delivering a solution to a previously unsolved problem, these companies’ stocks have the potential to absolutely skyrocket. Here are two that you may not have heard of, but that could be very strong opportunities.
Archer Aviation (NYSE: ACHR)
Archer Aviation is taking on the immense problem of urban traffic congestion with a highly unusual solution. Its experimental aircraft, Midnight, is a four-passenger, low-noise, electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicle designed for short commutes. These air taxis, which can recharge in just a few minutes, are expected to begin commercial operations in 2025.
The potential market for air taxis is in the trillions of dollars, but a lot of this will depend on innovations over the long run. For now, Archer Aviation has a huge cash burn rate, which is spooking some investors. However, Archer’s current market capitalization of $1.23 billion seems reasonable considering the possible upside. If you’re a long-term investor with an appetite for risk, this could be one to consider.
Viking Therapeutics (NASDAQ: VKTX)
Viking Therapeutics recently announced excellent clinical trial results for its new weight loss drug, VK2735. Assuming it receives FDA approval, this medication has real potential to compete with Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk’s blockbuster weight loss solutions. Those drugs regularly face shortages due to their immense popularity, which means that there is plenty of room for a third option. Many analysts believe that VK2735 could potentially generate $10 billion or more in peak sales.
The biggest challenge will be implementing the needed infrastructure to produce the drug at enormous scale. Some believe that Viking Therapeutics simply won’t be able to keep up with demand. Instead, a bigger pharmaceutical company many need to step in for a partnership or buyout. This adds an extra element of risk, but for risk-tolerant investors, Viking could represent a massive opportunity.
