Trump Demands Walmart “Eat The Tarrifs”, Triggers Presidential All-Cap Roasting…

Embrace the suck, Wally…

Trump just fired a warning shot at Walmart… via Truth Social, obviously… after the retail behemoth said it might have to hike prices thanks to tariffs. His message? Shut up and eat it. Literally. “EAT THE TARIFFS,” he posted, in all caps, adding that “valued customers” shouldn’t be charged “ANYTHING.” Subtle as a brick through a windshield, but on-brand as hell.

This all started when Walmart CFO John David Rainey went on CNBC and basically said, things are getting spicy. “We have not seen price increases at this magnitude, in the speed in which they’re coming at us before,” Rainey said. Translation: tariffs are hitting hard and fast, and Walmart (the largest grocer in America, mind you) is feeling the squeeze. Electronics, toys, bananas, avocados… if it crosses an ocean and ends up on a Walmart shelf, it probably has a new price tag coming.

Even with a temporary 90-day reprieve that softened the tariff bite, down to 30% on some Chinese imports and 10% on goods from other countries, Rainey made it clear: it’s still too damn high. Now, Walmart’s strategy is to absorb some of the costs, pressure suppliers to eat some too, and reluctantly pass the rest to consumers. It’s a delicate dance between keeping prices lower than the competition and not detonating their razor-thin retail margins.

But guess what? But Trump doesn’t want to hear about margins. Or supply chains. Or avocado inflation. His response was pure performative populism: blame Walmart, blame China, and dare them to test the patience of everyday American shoppers. “I’ll be watching, and so will your customers!!!” he warned. Boom, roasted.

Walmart, for its part, didn’t take the bait. In a calm statement, the company basically said, “We’ll keep doing our best.” They knew better not to clapback at Teflon Don. But given they’ve always “fought” to keep prices low… They state they are still trying. Behind the scenes, other companies are already blinking. Microsoft raised Xbox prices. Mattel is bailing on China but still warned about toy price hikes. Ford said cars are going up. And next up: Target, Home Depot, and Lowe’s will be on earnings calls explaining how they’re not miracle workers either.

So here we are: Trump wants the biggest retailer in America to swallow global trade policy like a Tic Tac. Walmart’s trying to split the bill with suppliers and keep customers from revolting. And the tariffs are still very much real, waiting to claim its next victim. Meaning, keep your eyes on this story and your wallet, and place your bets accordingly, friends. Until next time…
