Trump-appointed judge praises prosecutors placed on leave after calling Jan. 6 a 'riot'

Federal Judge Carl Nichols praised prosecutors Valdivia and White for their excellent work at a sentencing hearing. The prosecutors faced administrative leave after describing Capitol rioters in 2021. Taranto was convicted on gun charges from 2023 incident. Nichols sentenced him to time served with additional supervision.
