The US Navy ousted the commanding officer of USS Hershel Williams two months after the tanker-like sea base ran aground in Africa

The Navy relieved the commanding officer of the USS Williams after a soft grounding near Gabon. This marks the ninth commander relieved for a loss of trust in 2024. Several other commanders have been fired for various reasons, including DUI incidents.
