Wall Street just had its "oh sh*t" moment. The Dow (-1.48%) took a 650-point nosedive on Monday, and the S&P 500 (-1.76%) had its worst performance since December after Trump confirmed he's dropping a 25% tariff bomb on Mexico and Canada starting Tuesday. No backsies.

Additionally, the Nasdaq (-2.64%) got absolutely skull-dragged to 18,350.19, with Nvidia (-8%) leading the bloodbath. Former AI darlings Broadcom and Super Micro Computer also got their teeth kicked in from the havoc.
What’s interesting though is that while the decision loomed, the markets actually opened Monday in a good mood—the Dow was up nearly 200 points—until Trump and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick stepped to the mic and killed any hope of a last-minute tariff reprieve. Turns out, Trump wasn't just tweeting for the lolz.

Naturally, stocks directly in Donnie Politics’ crosshairs got absolutely rekt. GM and Ford plunged -3.56% and -1.68%, while Oatly Group and GDS Holdings took today’s biggest loser award, drowning -15.98% and -16.32%.
On the other hand, defensive boomer stocks like Philip Morris (+2%), PepsiCo, P&G, and Johnson & Johnson (all up ~1%) experienced a bounce. Because nothing says panic like the market loading up on Zyns, soda, and friggin’ Band-Aids.

In the end, Trump's big swingin’ tariffs just erased the S&P 500's gains for the entire year. Meaning, investors better pour something stronger than coffee tomorrow morning, because the market’s reaction suggests Wall Street is about as horned up about it as Mexico and Canada are. My 401(k) has officially left the chat…
