Russia restricts cryptocurrency mining in low-energy regions

Russia has banned cryptocurrency mining in Siberian regions to prevent winter power shortages. Mining is also restricted in annexed areas of Ukraine due to energy infrastructure destruction. Russia aims to regulate mining and collect taxes to address electricity consumption challenges.
