Pope Francis' close ally, Cardinal Sean O' Malley, retires as archbishop of Boston at age 80

Pope Francis accepted Cardinal Sean O'Malley's resignation as archbishop of Boston, appointing Bishop Richard Henning of Providence, Rhode Island as his replacement. O'Malley will continue advising the Pope on clergy sexual abuse until a new leader for the commission is named.
