Man in Jan. 6 Riot Ordered to Pay $500,000 to Family of Officer Who Later Killed Himself

A federal jury ordered David Walls-Kaufman, involved in the Jan. 6 Capitol attack, to pay $500,000 to the family of Officer Jeffrey Smith, who died by suicide after being assaulted during the riot. Walls-Kaufman denied assaulting the officer but was found liable for damages.
