“And another one bites, and another one bites, and another one bites the dust…”
Remember over the weekend when I said DP World’s CEO getting escorted to the corporate guillotine might be the opening act in the Epstein boardroom purge? Well, another batch of “I can’t believe they typed that out and hit send” emails have now claimed a fresh billionaire scalp.

Hyatt Hotels Chairman (and literal hotel-empire heir) Thomas J. Pritzker is officially stepping down after his name popped up in the latest batch of Jeffrey Epstein document releases. And by “resurfaced,” I mean featured in friendly emails… and this is the important part, sent after Epstein’s very public 2008 plea deal.
Pritzker, 75, announced he would retire immediately from his role as executive chairman (a job he’s held for more than two decades) and won’t seek reelection to the board. In a letter, he said he exercised “terrible judgment” by maintaining contact with Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell and regretted not distancing himself sooner.
For context, Jeffrey Epstein pleaded guilty in 2008 to state charges involving soliciting prostitution on Palm Beach Island, including one charge involving a minor. He later “hung himself” in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges (or at least that’s what they want us to believe). Recently released Justice Department files revealed ongoing communication between Epstein and several high-profile business and political figures… Pritzker included.

One 2018 exchange showed Epstein asking for help with hotel reservations in Asia. When a woman joked she was going to “try to find a new girlfriend for Jeffrey,” Pritzker replied: “May the Force be with you.” Which I have to say, in the grand horror show that is the Epstein file saga, that line alone isn’t proof of illegal activity. But if you’re drafting your legacy, “Star Wars-themed encouragement email to a convicted sex offender” probably isn’t the vibe you’re aiming for.
I guess if we want to give the guy some credit, Pritzker did condemn Epstein’s actions and said he feels “deep sorrow” for the victims. He framed his resignation as an act of stewardship… protecting Hyatt from becoming the story. Translation: Please stop looking for dirt on my name, I promise you, there’s NOTHING else to see here.

In response, the hotel chain moved remarkably fast. Hilton’s board appointed CEO Mark Hoplamazian as chairman effective immediately. That way their Chicago headquarters can stay focused on room bookings, instead of being accused of being a main accessory in helping Epstein conduct his “business” all over the world.
After more than 20 years in the role, Pritzker says he’ll now focus on a science foundation he started. Which, are you even a billionaire if you don’t have a science foundation?
