Forget the Golf Cart And “Sleepy Don” Memes… AMD’s New $10B Deal Could Redraw the AI Map

There he was, Trump, front and center at a lavish Saudi welcome ceremony, eyes heavy as the cameras rolled. Within minutes, Twitter had a field day, christening him “Sleepy Don”... a poetic twist on the nickname he once lobbed at Biden. And just to make it all feel like a deleted scene from The Dictator, the Saudis handed him a gold-plated golf cart. Because of course they did.

But while the internet was busy debating whether Trump was asleep, meditating, or just plotting his next Truth Social post, something much bigger was happening in the background… AMD made its move.

On that same day, Lisa Su and her team announced a massive $10 billion deal with HUMAIN… Saudi Arabia’s new AI venture funded by their Public Investment Fund. It’s a multi-year agreement that puts AMD at the center of one of the most ambitious tech plays in the Middle East. Su flew in to finalize the deal herself, locking in plans to supply the GPUs and CPUs that will power 500 megawatts of AI infrastructure. For scale, that’s enough compute power to support hundreds of thousands of advanced AI workloads… or to mine every meme ever made about Trump’s nap.

But AMD wasn’t done. They're also teaming up with Amazon Web Services on a separate $5 billion initiative to help turn Saudi Arabia into a global AI hub. In other words, AMD is no longer the “other” chip company. They're shoulder to shoulder with Nvidia now, especially when it comes to international expansion. The fact that Trump’s gold-cart moment happened the same day? Just a weird, gold-plated footnote in what might be one of AMD’s most important global power plays.

Then came the cream cheese icing on the cake. Less than a day after shaking hands with oil barons, AMD dropped another bomb… this time aimed squarely at Wall Street. A $6 billion share buyback. Just like that, their total buyback stash jumped to $10 billion. Investors practically threw their wallets at the screen. The stock jumped 5% in the blink of an eye.

Lisa Su said the buyback reflects their confidence in AMD’s growth and ability to keep printing cash like it’s running Jerome Powell’s basement. And to be fair, with 96 cents per share in earnings on $7.44 billion in revenue last quarter, they’re not bluffing.

Even Bank of America’s Vivek Arya took notice, raising his price target by $10 to $130 and calling the HUMAIN deal a “potential long-term growth driver.” Which, translated from analyst-speak, basically means: “Holy hell, this could be massive.” So Nvidia might want to keep one eye open… because there’s a new wannabe sheriff in town.

PS: It’s a mess out there.

One day the market’s ripping, the next day it’s Black Monday all over again. Recent earning’s reports have been a total coin flip. One stock beats and explodes 30%… the next misses by a penny and gets sent to the Shadow Realm. And through it all, everyone’s begging for Jerome Powell to finally cave and cut rates.

But underneath all the panic headlines (“Inflation too sticky!” “Recession imminent!” “Tariffs round 4 incoming!”) something wild is happening…

We’re seeing violent price action. Especially in the small-cap space, where low floats and high anxiety are creating the perfect recipe for 100%+ pops before lunchtime. Some of these names are moving 200%+ in under 24 hours… and to our knowledge, NO ONE else is covering them.

Except us.
