First-ever detailed image of a star outside Milky Way -- and it could explode

Astronomers have captured the first close-up image of a dying star, WOH G64, in a galaxy beyond our own, shedding light on its peculiar characteristics and potential supernova explosion. The breakthrough was made possible by the GRAVITY instrument on the Very Large Telescope Interferometer.
