“Everyone Hates Ticketmaster” Is Finally a Legal Strategy After 15 Years of Emotional Damage…

As a victim myself, I’m about to yell “lawyer up” so mf’ing loud…

Ight, let’s set the scene shall we? It’s 2010, you’re trying to buy concert tickets to get your "Blah Blah" on with Ke$ha. You see the price. You blink. You refresh. Prices are now at nose-bleed levels. And suddenly, there’s a $38.50 “convenience fee” for the privilege of being emotionally abused.

If that just gave you PTSD after reading that… congrats, you’re now part of a federally certified support group. Why? Because a judge in California just ruled that Live Nation / Ticketmaster has to face a massive class action lawsuit on behalf of millions of Americans who’ve allegedly been getting bent over the merch table for the last 15 years. We’re talking 400+ million tickets worth of “how is this legal?”

Thankfully, this isn’t one of those notorious slap on the wrist cases. This thing stretches back to 2010, aka the exact moment Ticketmaster realized it could sell you a $70 ticket for $70… plus $46 in mystery charges… and you’d still hit “confirm purchase” like a hostage blinking twice. Of course, Live Nation’s argument is this gem: “Actually, the venues set the fees.” Which is a bold stance from a company that owns the venues, owns the ticketing platform, promotes the tours, controls the distribution, and somehow still wants to be treated like a neutral bystander.

As for the judge, they basically said Live Nation can sip a fat cup of concrete on their claim. The Supreme Court hinted at the same thing, especially as they already told Live Nation to stop trying to shove this into private arbitration hell. And the DOJ, well… they’re also suing them for antitrust violations in a separate case… because apparently Ticketmaster needed a full bingo card of legal problems.

That said, the lawsuit alleges exactly what everyone with a functioning frontal lobe has known for years: Live Nation monopolized ticketing, hid real prices until checkout, and charged fees so creative they deserve their own NFT collection. However, while Ticketmaster stands on their innocence… the impressive part is that they’ve managed to do the impossible: unite Swifties, Deadheads, metalheads, EDM kids, boomers, and finance bros into a single shared belief system: “This company sucks.” Translation: This is what MLK died for.

Meaning, if this case actually sticks… and that’s still a big if, Live Nation could be staring down 15 years of damages tied to one of the most universally hated consumer experiences in modern America. Of course, everyone involved in the class action will probably only get a $4.17 settlement check in 2032 that expires before you open the envelope. But that’s not the point. The point is that the buffoons at Live Nation may get their teeth kicked in… and for good reason.  So with that, keep your eyes on this story going forward. Hopefully justice is served on a nice platter for once. Now do health insurers…

Until next time, friends!
