EA Sports and the National Football League Extend and Expand Exclusive Partnership for Madden Series

Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA) and the National Football League (NFL) today announced a multi-year extension and expansion of their long-standing partnership for the Madden NFL video game franchise and related content experiences. The agreement ensures that EA Sports remains the exclusive developer and publisher of NFL simulation video games for console and PC through at least the 2030 NFL season.

Under the renewed deal, EA Sports and the NFL will also expand their collaboration beyond the traditional video-game format to include new interactive and media experiences, such as the MaddenCast broadcast feature and integrations with EA Sports College Football.

“This renewed partnership reinforces our shared vision to grow the global fandom of American football through innovative interactive experiences,” said Cam Weber, President of EA Sports. “For more than three decades, Madden NFL has been a cultural touchstone that connects fans to the sport they love. We’re excited to continue building immersive football experiences for players and fans around the world.”

Renie Anderson, Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer for the NFL, added:

“The Madden NFL franchise continues to be a powerful platform for engaging new generations of football fans. This extension through 2030 reflects our commitment to innovation, authenticity, and expanding the reach of the NFL globally.”

The new agreement also includes joint initiatives to enhance global engagement with American football, such as international sponsorships and esports events. EA Sports recently served as presenting sponsor of the Vikings-Steelers preseason game in Dublin and will co-host a Madden NFL Championship Series event in Madrid on November 16, coinciding with the Commanders-Dolphins game.

EA Sports’ continued investment in data-driven broadcast technology follows its acquisition of TRACAB Technologies earlier this year. TRACAB’s advanced player-tracking systems will support next-generation features like real-time route trees, player ratings, and predictive play simulations used in the MaddenCast alternate broadcast.

The Madden NFL series remains one of the best-selling sports franchises in history, with annual installments consistently ranking among the top-selling games in the U.S. The latest edition, Madden NFL 26, debuted as the second best-selling game of August and has maintained a position in the top ten for 2025 year-to-date sales.

The previous extension between EA Sports, the NFL, and the NFL Players Association (NFLPA), announced in 2020, was valued at approximately $1.6 billion, according to Sportico. The newly expanded agreement applies specifically to the NFL’s licensing rights, while EA Sports and the NFLPA maintain a separate contract covering player name, image, and likeness rights.

EA Sports’ partnership with the NFLPA is currently in place through February 2027. Negotiations regarding future extensions are ongoing.
