DoorDash Partners With Waymo to Launch Autonomous Delivery Service in Phoenix

DoorDash, Inc. (NYSE: DASH) today announced a partnership with Waymo, an autonomous driving technology company under Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOGL), to launch a new autonomous delivery service in the Metro Phoenix area. The collaboration will integrate Waymo’s fully driverless vehicles into DoorDash’s existing delivery platform, beginning with deliveries from DashMart, DoorDash’s owned and operated convenience, grocery, and retail store

Testing of the new service is currently underway, with broader commercial operations expected later this year. DoorDash customers in select Phoenix neighborhoods may soon receive their orders via Waymo’s autonomous Jaguar I-PACE vehicles, equipped with the company’s fifth-generation Waymo Driver technology. When matched with a Waymo delivery vehicle, customers will be notified through the DoorDash app and prompted to meet the vehicle at the curb. Using an in-app verification feature, customers can unlock the vehicle’s trunk to retrieve their order.

“This partnership represents a major step forward in DoorDash’s vision for a multi-modal autonomous future,” said David Richter, Vice President of Business and Corporate Development at DoorDash. “Together with Waymo, we’re giving customers access to a new and delightful delivery experience while continuing to expand our autonomous delivery network.”

Nicole Gavel, Head of Business Development and Strategic Partnerships at Waymo, added: “We’re excited to make everyday errands easier with the Waymo Driver. Through our partnership with DoorDash, we’re providing customers with a safe, reliable, and contact-free way to receive items they need, whether it’s groceries or a quick meal.” As part of the partnership, DoorDash also announced a limited-time promotion for its DashPass members in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Phoenix. From now through December 31, 2025, DashPass members can receive $10 off one Waymo ride per month, with a new promotional code issued at the start of each month.

The partnership follows DoorDash’s growing investment in autonomous logistics. Last month, the company introduced Dot, its proprietary sidewalk delivery robot, in a Phoenix pilot program, and continues to collaborate with Serve Robotics in Los Angeles for small-scale delivery pilots. DoorDash’s Autonomous Delivery Platform is designed to orchestrate a range of delivery modes… including dashers, robots, drones, and now fully autonomous vehicles… enabling the company to scale its logistics network efficiently while improving delivery speed and reliability.
