Colorado Supreme Court to hear case on elephants' rights, captivity at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

The Colorado Supreme Court is set to determine if animals have bodily liberty and if a "next friend" can sue on their behalf. The Nonhuman Rights Project filed a lawsuit on behalf of elephants at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, seeking their release to a sanctuary due to captivity concerns.
