BREAKING: Apple and Samsung Look to Get in Bed with Intel for a Massive Buyout... (Mind = Blown)

BREAKING: Apple and Samsung Look to Get in Bed with Intel for a Massive Buyout... (Mind = Blown)

I’m telling you, today is beginning to be one Monday for the books as the smartphone market just got a tad bit juicier. How? Well because Apple and Samsung are reportedly eyeing Intel for a potential buyout. Whaaaa? Yeah. My thoughts exactly.

In short, right now, flagship smartphones are rocking 3nm chipsets. Which might sound fancy at first, but when you’re Apple or Samsung, that’s yesterday’s news. Meaning, these companies are racing to get even smaller and more powerful chips into their devices. Buuuuut, unfortunately though, this milestone hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing as of late.

Apple, for example, has been hoarding all of TSMC’s 2nm chip supply like it’s a Black Friday sale. Meanwhile, Samsung’s over here trying to roll out 1.4nm chips by 2027, but they’re struggling harder than me trying to explain why extending Dak Prescott's contract was a good thing for my Cowboys.

For this reason, Intel has spawned to be the solution to this massive dilemma. You see, with Intel’s chip-making factories and intellectual property in their back pockets, both Apple and Samsung could take control of their own chipset production. No more relying on outside suppliers, no more delays—just smooth, predictable launches year after year. But that control comes with a price tag, and I don’t mean just for Apple and Samsung.

Here’s the thing: if Apple or Samsung owns Intel, they’ll be free to set whatever prices they want for their chips. And guess what? That’s probably bad news for your bank account. If they’re not beholden to outside suppliers, they can crank up those prices faster than you can say “China sweatshops” Meaning, expect your next iPhone or Galaxy to cost more, and don’t be surprised if phone upgrades become even more of a luxury than they already are. But hey, at least you’ll have a new iPhone that’s the exact same as its predecessors slimmer, right? Totally worth it (sarcasm, obvi).

Now in addition, if Apple bags Intel, they’ll also gain the ability to produce their own in-house cellular modems. Translation: Apple could stop relying on third-party suppliers for its iPhone modems, which means bigger profits for them—and maybe better connectivity for you. Or at least that’s what Tim Cook will pitch us at his next keynote.

On the flip side, if Samsung wins the Intel sweepstakes, they could finally equip all their devices with their own Exynos chips. You know, the ones they’ve been trying (and failing) to perfect for years. Maybe—just maybe—this means fewer complaints about performance and battery life from Samsung users. But again, that’s a strong maybe there.

In the grand scheme of things though, it’s clear that this acquisition could change the smartphone landscape in a big way. We’re talking fewer supply chain disruptions, more control for Apple and Samsung, and—potentially—faster innovation.

However, the even girthier opportunity is that Intel’s factories aren’t just making chips for smartphones—they’re also cranking out semiconductors for laptops, tablets, and even military applications. So, this acquisition could ripple across the tech world, pretty much accelerating everything Apple and Samsung has to offer their consumers.

But, but, but… with that said, if this deal ends up having weight, it’s not going to happen overnight. As we all know, regulatory concerns are about as rampant as Trump’s golden sheath of hair on a windy Monday - yet, at the end of the day it’s Apple and Samsung’s world and we’re just living in it. Translation: If either of these companies want Intel that badly… they’ll get it one way or another.

So in the end, don’t be surprised if the next time you’re shopping for a new phone, you’re choosing between devices powered by chips made in-house by either Apple or Samsung. And while that might bring some benefits, like more reliable product launches, it could also mean you’re paying more for the privilege. So yeah, happy Holidays everyone.

In the meantime, keep an eye on shares of Apple and Intel going forward and as always stay safe and stay frosty, friends! Until next time…
