Toyota profit drops for fifth straight quarter on China slump, Iran war impact

TOKYO, Aug 4 (Reuters) - Toyota said on Tuesday that profit fell for a fifth straight quarter, hurt by a slide in China sales as well as higher material and parts costs stemming from the Iran war.

Operating profit for the April-June first quarter declined 9% to 1.06 trillion yen ($6.7 billion), compared with a median forecast of 1.11 trillion yen in a poll of eight analysts surveyed by LSEG.

But the world's largest automaker lifted its full-year profit outlook by 13% to 3.4 trillion yen from 3.0 trillion yen.
