Atlantic Union Bankshares Corp. is set to acquire Sandy Spring Bancorp for around $1.6 billion in stock, part of a trend of consolidation among small to midsize banks. Sandy Spring shareholders will receive 0.9 shares of Atlantic Union for each share they hold.
