Sheila Chepkirui of Kenya won the New York City Marathon, defeating defending champion Hellen Obiri. Chepkirui finished in 2 hours, 24 minutes, 35 seconds, with Obiri coming in second. The event also saw American Sara Vaughn finish sixth.
