Capitals put Alex Ovechkin on injured reserve, ruling him out at least a week

The Washington Capitals have placed Alex Ovechkin on injured reserve due to a lower left leg injury, ruling him out for at least the next three games. Ovechkin, chasing Wayne Gretzky's goal record, is expected to miss more time after a collision with Jack McBain.
